Addressing water security and environmental challenges through advanced solutions
The investment will enable Nafasi to scale technologies focused on water reuse, complex reclamation, and the rehabilitation of mining-impacted catchments – directly tackling water scarcity, pollution, and infrastructure backlogs in the region.
“The extent of the backlog in water infrastructure investment, coupled with deteriorating catchment resilience… has accelerated water insecurity for many communities.” – Suzie Nkambule, CEO, Nafasi Water
Driving economic impact through job creation and public-private collaboration
Nafasi’s expansion will create skilled jobs, strengthen local expertise, and support public-private partnerships, particularly in regions like Mpumalanga, while contributing to a more sustainable and resilient water sector.
“By preventing polluted water from entering rivers and communities, Nafasi is addressing one of South Africa’s most pressing environmental challenges while creating jobs.” – Senior Vice President for Green Infrastructure at Norfund.
Strong investor confidence in Nafasi’s capability and long-term impact
Gladwyn Leeuw reinforces that Nafasi’s proven technical expertise and execution track record position it as a key player in addressing Southern Africa’s water crisis through scalable, partnership-driven solutions.
“Our follow-on investment reflects our confidence in the management team and in Nafasi’s ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects that strengthen water resilience in the region.” – Gladwyn Leeuw, CEO of E Squared Investments.
