The Proposals Engineer will play a critical role within the New Business department by managing and developing technical and commercial proposals.

Vacancy Description

The Proposals Engineer will play a critical role within the New Business department by managing and developing technical and commercial proposals. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and business acumen to deliver competitive, high-quality proposals that align with company objectives and customer requirements, with the purpose of growing the company’s order book.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Proposal Development:

  • Analyse client specifications, tender documents, and technical requirements to prepare detailed and accurate proposals.
  • Prepare a proposal plan for the execution of the plan.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, finance, etc.) to gather information and ensure proposal completeness.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to develop technical designs, cost estimations, and project timelines for inclusion in proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental standards in proposal preparation.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a point of contact for proposal-related inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and validate technical and commercial details.
  • Present and explain proposal details to clients, addressing any queries or concerns.

Strategic Contributions:

  • Assist market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and inform proposal strategies.
  • Provide input on pricing strategies to enhance competitiveness while maintaining profitability.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and organised records of all proposals, including costs, timelines, and client feedback.
  • Prepare regular reports on proposal status, success rates, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and update the project pipeline based on market leads brought from the Business Development team
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, LICENCES & PERMITS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical) or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with ECSA will be advantageous.
  • Training in proposal management methodologies
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong technical knowledge of water treatment, distribution, and infrastructure systems.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using proposal management software and tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
